Item Description
THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD began publication in August-September of 1955. Originally an anthology series featuring adventure tales from past ages with characters such as the Silent Knight, the Viking Prince, the Golden Gladiator, and Robin Hood, the title eventually, with issue #59, evolved into a team-up book, with BATMAN sharing the spotlight feature throughout most of its run. Here in issue #86 from the Fall of 1969 BATMAN teams up with DEADMAN in a story featuring two of the very characters that artist extraordinaire NEAL ADAMS is best remembered for!
In "You Can't Hide From a DEADMAN!", while busting up a crime scene,BATMAN is suddenly attacked by ROBIN and various people on the streets. BATMAN realizes it is actually DEADMAN who is possessing the bodies and attacking him. Fighting off all these attacks, BATMAN manages to convince DEADMAN to stop, and soon learns that his friend was hypnotized into attacking him by the evil SENSEI.
Eventually, they learn that the SENSEI plans to destroy the secluded haven of Nambaa Parbat, so the duo travels there and stops the SOCIETY OF ASSASSINS from destroying the land. Afterwards, BATMAN leaves, and DEADMAN is left wondering why he can only become a physical form in the realm of Namba Parbat.
Neal Adams provides another pencilling/inking job that is beyond wonderful!
This is a great-looking copy of BRAVE AND THE BOLD #86! The binding is strong, the pages are supple and bright, there are no real flaws that we can see other than a bit of scuffing onthe back cover . We conservatively grade this handsome copy a 7.0 FN/VF. Overstreet values this issue in this condition at $43. But we're willing to part with it for $30, with our always-low shipping of just $2!
