Item Description

DC Comics acquired the rights to publish a SPIRIT series in 2007.  It ran for 32 issues and here are the very last two issues!  Will Eisner's popular masked vigilante crimefighter was created in the 1940s and initially ran as its own color supplement in 400 newspapers.  The property was semi-dormant through the 1950s until Harvey comics put out two big issues of reprints in the late 1960s, and then Kitchen Sink Press picked up THE SPIRIT for 41 issues in the 1970s.

This DC iteration of THE SPIRIT updated some concepts, like Ellen's internet skills helping to solve a case, and Ebony White stripped of his racial stereotype characteristics.

Artist MIKE PLOOG both scripts and illustrates this two-part "The Celtic Stone" saga wherein an Irish Elf (who doesn't like to be called a Leprechaun!) alongside THE SPIRIT. He appears in Central City looking to reclaim a mystic stone stolen from an Irish archaeological site.  A gangster has it, and naturally THE SPIRIT gets dragged into the struggle to reclaim it.
