Walt Disney's CHRISTMAS PARADE started life under the DELL COMICS banner and ran for ten issues from 1949 to 1959.  By the late 1950s, relations between Dell and Western Publishing (which actually held the licensing rights to Disney characters) had become strained and they parted ways.  In 1962 Western ended the partnership and continued their comic book line under the GOLD KEY COMICS label.

And that's when the 'second volume' of CHRISTMAS PARADE started, with this #1 issue cover dated January of 1963 (but on newsstand racks in time for the Holiday season of 1962!)

Squarebound, and with 84 pages, CHRISTMAS PARADE #! featured the work of possibly the three most prolific Disney comic book artists (other than Carl Barks): Tony Strobl, Paul Murry and the great Jack Bradbury.  

Here they offer a total of 12 different stories, varying in lengthe from 4 pages to 13, and featuring Mickey and Goofy, Donald and his nephews, Daisy, Ludwig Von Drake, Uncle Scrooge, Grandma Duck, Gladstone Gander, Big Bad Wolf, Li'l Bad Wolf, the Three Pigs, Chip n Dale, Br'er Rabbit, and the Wicked Witch from Snow White!

This is an incredibly lovely copy  of CHRISTMAS PARADE #1 with its strong and squared binding, absence of creases or chipping, glossy covers and supple pages.  It has bright colors and no foxing! 

It's like it has just been pulled off the newsstand racks, instead of being around for 61 years!
