Despite a few interruptions in its publishing history, and migrations from one publisher to another, Marvel's TWO-GUN KID had been a presence on newsstands since 1948, by the time the last issue hit the stands in 1977.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby 'picked up the reins' of the character in 1960, and altered him into MATT HAWK, making him resemble an Old West 'superhero' with a secret identity, in order to stimulate sales for the title.

Here in issue #101, beyond the nice cover art by John Severin, you get two stories from just before the changeover, but with The Kid's outfit redrawn to match up with the then-current continuity.  Reprinted from1961 issues #58 and #59, Lee and Kirby produce rip-roaring tales that show HAWK early in his heroic career!

This copy of TWO-GUN KID #101 looks great for its age of over 50 years, with semi-glossy covers, supple pages, and good color.  The binding is strong, there's no abnormal toning, and no tears, chips, stress lines or creases, although there is an odd wavy bending of the front cover at the lower right edge, and a strange discoloring of just the page edges (not seen on the interior) in that same area on the reverse.  Overstreet values an 5.5 FN- copy at $8.50.  Our price is even better than that -- just $4 . . with our customary $2 shipping, giving you the best price by far here on HipComic!
