Inside the colorful and typically-overactive cover by famed Alex Schomberg (which scores extra points by depicting HITLER at upper left) are war-time stories for kids stateside in this issue of THRILLING COMICS #48.  That's the issue number on the cover, but this is actually a Canadian version of THRILLING COMICS #45, with the same interior stories as the American version published a year earlier.  I found no documentation on why this is the ONLY Canadian version done this way, with differing issue numbers.

The 11-page lead story features the COMMANDO CUBS in a wonderfully action-packed story illustrated by a very young Bob Oksner, as the 5 junior soldiers battle Nazi infiltrators on land, sea and air!  Then cover-featured DOC STRANGE single-handedly shuts down an insidious Japanese propaganda plot!

A total of 32 pages of hard-hitting battles against the Allies' WWII enemies!  It really shows how comics served as a morale-booster for the young people at home who were following the military's exploits in the war.

This copy of THRILLING COMICS is in terrific shape for a 76-year-old comic - the binding is strong, there are no rips or tears or pieces missing, and the only blemish is a bit of writing on the front cover.  Easily a grade of 6.0 FN in our conservative estimation. As such, Overstreet values it at $339!!!  But we'll HALVE that and price it at $170 . . with FREE shipping!

A terrific addition to any Golden Age Wartime collection!
