THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERBOY, debuting in late 1979/early 1980, was the second DC series to feature the exploits of "SUPERMAN When He Was a Boy". It was launched to provide readers with monthly Smallville-based SUPERBOY tales, which had largely disappeared after the LEGION became co-stars of the original SUPERBOY title. This new series continued monthly publication for a total of 54 issues, with virtually all issues being pencilled by longtime LOIS LANE artist Kurt Schaffenberger.

Here is the 52-page 'Anniversary' issue #50 from 1984, with script by Paul Kupperberg and art duties shared by Keith Giffen, and regular artists Kurt Schaffenberger and Dave Hunt. In "Dial V for Villain" NYLOR TRUGGS, a 30th Century criminal, steals the 'DIAL H FOR HERO' DIAL, from a museum and goes back in time to ally himself with 20th Century criminal LEX LUTHOR.The LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES travels to our present and joins SUPERBOY to help stop TRUGGS when the DIAL malfunctions and transforms 4 of CLARK KENT's best friends into villains!
