Writer Roy Thomas and celebrated artist Barry Windsor-Smith present another action-filled AVENGERS tale - this time, it's "BETRAYAL!!".

In AVENGERS #66 from July of 1969 (inside the great cover by John Buscema), the AVENGERS (joined once again by their long-absent members IRON MAN and THOR) are invited to attempt to destroy a cylinder of Adamantium that is aboard S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier. While discussing the potential use of the metal, the VISION soon finds his mind being taken over . . and he disappears!

The AVENGERS then return home, where IRON MAN is suddenly trapped in the training room. While the other AVENGERS struggle to get him out, the VISION travels to the Helicarrier and steals the cylinder of Adamantium.

When the AVENGERS find this out, they speculate as to why VISION would betray them, just as the VISION returns and attacks the WASP. The AVENGERS gang up and attack the VISION, until the android tells them that, for reasons beyond his control, he'd used the Adamantium to rebuild his creator: ULTRON!!.

This is a great copy of this 56-year old comic, with a strong binding, supple pages, minimal toning and good color. There is a bit of discoloration on the back cover. But nothing mars the great story by Roy Thomas, terrific art by the 'Pre-Conan' Barry Windsor-Smith, and very 'Kirbyesque inking' by Sid Shores.

We're conservatively grading it at 7.0 FN/VF, for which the Overstreet Price Guide suggests a value of $47. We're going to make this issue a good bit more affordable for you at just $34 . . and our LOW shipping will sweeten the deal.
