"Hearts and Minds" is not an episode of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine television series. It is the title of a four-issue comic book mini-series published by Malibu Comics in 1994, which is set during the show's second season. A Klingon cruiser disappears, and in retaliation, the Klingons declare war on the Cardassians, their prime suspects. Since the Federation is allied with the Klingons at this point in the timeline, Captain Sisko is expected to support the Klingon war effort. The Federation dispatches a Betazoid negotiator, but their ship is destroyed upon arrival at the station, leaving Sisko to manage the escalating conflict.The story involves a subplot where Quark takes over station comm channels for advertising, and Dax, Bashir, and a Klingon officer, Koleth, are sent to the Gamma Quadrant to investigate the destroyed vessel's flight recorder, where they are imprisoned by Romulan captors.
