SHADOW OF THE BATMAN was a five-issue limited series published under DC's deluxe format. The series reprinted classic Steve Englehart & Marshall Rogers stories originally printed in DETECTIVE COMICS_ _#469-479. Other artists represented in these first 3 issues of the limited series include work by Walt Simonson, Allen Milgrom, and the great inking of Terry Austin.

All three of these issues have wrap-around covers by Marshall Rogers, the artist credited with initiating the depiction of BATMAN as a darker, grimmer hero. And the stories included were all penned by Steve Englehart, Rogers' partner in the grittier transformation of BATMAN.
