Although blind, he claims to see the good and evil in men’s souls. But though his early adventures portrayed him as a force for good, his later adventures cast him in a different light.He was last seen as one of the four occult figures whose mission it was to show young Timothy Hunter the aspects of magic in the Books of Magic mini-series. When his turn came, however, he attempted to kill Timothy, mistakenly believing him to be a pawn of the devil. This is when readers first learned that E’s blindness was actually brought about by his own father, who gouged out E’s eyes when he caught him looking at a dirty magazine. Since then, Mister E has always harbored a secret madness. Timothy escaped Mister E, leaving E stranded at the end of time.
