The MARVEL TEAM-UP series debuted in March of 1972 and has always featured two or more Marvel characters in one non-canon story. Through February 1985, and 150 issues, it featured SPIDER-MAN as the lead "team up" character in all but ten issues, and in six of its seven Annuals. Here is issue #79 from 1979, near the halfway point in the title's run.

With a script by Chris Claremont and art by John Byrne and Terry Austin - the same triumvirate that crafted the immensely popular X-MEN run from 1978 to 1981 - you get "Sword of the She-Devil!", pairing SPIDER-MAN with the red-headed warrior of the Barbarian Age, RED SONJA!

While investigating a disturbance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, PETER PARKER's girlfriend, MARY JANE is transformed into RED SONJA by a mystic beam, and jumps into battle to help SPIDER-MAN fight off the evil Hyborian Age sorcerer KULAN GATH.

This is a great-looking 46-year old copy of MARVEL TEAM-UP #79 with a strong binding, supple pages and good color - and no toning. No creases, tears, ragged edges, or pieces missing.. We're calling this an 8.0 VF . . for which the Overstreet Price Guide suggests a price of $8.
