MARVEL PREMIERE was an anthology series that in reality was a tryout book, intended to determine if a character or concept could attract enough readers to justify launching their own series, though in its later years it was also often used as a dumping ground for stories which could not be published elsewhere. It ran for 61 issues from April 1972 to August 1981. Here are the 45th and 46th issues from late 1978 and early 1979, featuring the durable Marvel character, MAN-WOLF..

The character of MAN-WOLF, is actually a transformation undergone by JOHN JAMESON, the son of J. Jonah Jameson, publisher of the Daily Bugle and enemy of SPIDER-MAN. His first appearance was in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 (March 1963).

He originally was the brainchild of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, but later was revamped by Gerry Conway and Gil Kane in the mid-70s. JAMESON was a NASA astronaut who crash landed on the moon and was subjected to the power of the GODSTONE, which turned him into a werewolf with superpowers when the moon was full.

Here in MARVEL PREMIERE #45 and 46 he was put forward as a tragic and complex character with violent lycanthropic tendencies! These two issues, written by David Anthony Kraft and illustrated by the late, great George Pérez, introduce the OTHER REALM, a world in outer space of sword and sorcery, as well as a retelling of the origin of MAN-WOLF and how he relates to STAR-GOD, the ruler of OTHER REALM.
