KAZAR THE SAVAGE (MARVEL 1981-83)

From the Slings and Arrows Comics guide:
"When
reviving Kazar yet again, third-series writer Bruce Jones swiftly
introduced new characters ad a new origin for the Savage land, and lost
the hyphen. Most significantly, however, he had Kazar act like a
grown-up. You know something's good when 1 opens with the muscular Lord
Plunder questioning the point of his existence. Jones developes the plot
swiftly, but the many fights and revelations are merely dressing for
the stormy and very adult relationship that springs up between Kazar and
his sometime companion, Shanna the She Devil." (362)

The
Warehouse of Wonders presents a lot of Kazar comics from the 1980s. In
another attempt to make the Tarzan ripoff relevant to the Marvel
Universe once again, the company has hired horror writer Bruce Jones to
bring Kazar to adulthood. Be warned, Kazar may act like a brute toward
Shanna, and more often a lover. See what man's world has in store for
Kazar as he takes a leave of the Savage Land.
