Item Description

Marvel's character KA-ZAR started out reminiscent of both TARZAN, and of writer-artist Joe Kubert's 1950s caveman character, TOR. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in THE X-MEN #10 (March 1965), KA-ZAR lived in the dinosaur-populated Savage Land, which was hidden beneath Antarctica by extraterrestrials. 

Originally written as a primitive and belligerent savage who spoke in broken English, here in KA-ZAR THE SAVAGE he's become more articulate and civilized, although he retains a certain degree of distrust toward civilization and is generally wary of outside visitors to the Savage Land. KEVIN PLUNDER refers to himself as the "Lord of the Savage Land," a phrase by which he has come to be known.  KA-ZAR's first solo story was published in MARVEL SUPER-HEROES #19 from 1969.  This new beginning in 1981, is written by Bruce Jones and drawn by Brent Anderson.

In Jones' story "To Air Is Human!", KA-ZAR tries to save the Queen of Lemuria, but winds up unconscious after a deadly fall off a high cliff with his true love SHANNA . . and discovers they have been saved and hidden in the lofty lair of the AERIANS - bird-men of ages past!

They are in epic battle with the PTERONS - humanoid Pterodactyls - and KA-ZAR aids the AERIANS as they fight for their lives against the PTERONS!

This is a solid 8.0 VF copy KA-ZAR THE SAVAGE #2 at the beginning of a new direction for KA-ZAR.  It has a strong spine free of stress lines! No fingerprints or smudges! No creases, chips, rough edges, bends or toning! We'll call it an 8.0 VF.
