Item Description

Marvel's KA-ZAR started out reminiscent of both Tarzan and of writer-artist Joe Kubert's 1950s caveman character, TOR. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in The X-Men #10 (March 1965), he lived in the dinosaur-populated Savage Land, which was hidden beneath Antarctica by extraterrestrials. 

Originally written as a primitive and belligerent savage who spoke in broken English, through two previous volumes, here on KA-ZAR THE SAVAGE he become more articulate and civilized, although he retains a certain degree of distrust toward civilization and was generally wary of outside visitors to the Savage Land. Kevin Plunder refers to himself as the "Lord of the Savage Land," a phrase by which he has come to be known.  KA-ZAR's first solo story was published in Marvel Super-Heroes #19 from 1969.  This new beginning in 1901, is written by Bruce Jones and drawn by Brent Anderson.

In "A NEW DAWN . . A NEW WORLD!", KA-ZAR is having a midlife crisis. He's wondering if he should give up the jungle life and head to the comforts of modern civilization. He parts ways from his mate SHANNA for a bit to try and find ZABU, his 'pet' Sabre-Tooth Cat, who has uncharacteristically wandered off. 

Zabu's trail leads him to a vast new section of the Savage Land - which we eventually learn is called Pangea,. He meets a woman called Leanne who owns a female pet saber-tooth . He rescues her from some savages, but it turns out that she is the queen of a a large medieval city called Lemuria. They have a brief affair, but she leaves him because he's 'too uncivilized' to be her 'consort'.

This is a solid 8.0 VF copy of this beginning of a new direction for KA-ZAR.  No fingerprints or smudges!  No bends or toning! Overstreet says $6 -- we say $4, and we'll throw in our always-L•O•W shipping!
