Here's the scion of Asgard, the MIGHTY THOR, appearing just three years after his debut in this formerly science fiction/fantasy anthology comic, JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, and less than one year before the God of Thunder gets his own self-titled comic, with THOR #126. He takes third-place in size standing, behind his father ODIN, and CRUSHER CREEL in the foreground, on this cover by JACK KIRBY and WALLY WOOD!

In "Where Mortals Fear To Tread!", written by STAN LEE and with dynamic action art (as always) by JACK KIRBY, THOR and ABSORBING MAN resume their battle from last issue, with THOR gaining the upper hand. LOKI, fearful of CREEL’s defeat, transports him to Asgard.

Meanwhile, THOR rescues JANE FOSTER from a locked room filling with smoke. He transforms into Dr. Donald Blake, but the transformation is witnessed by reporter Harris Hobbs, who engineered the smoke-filled room scenario in the first place for the purpose of discovering THOR’s secret identity!

Hobbs says he will destroy his evidence of THOR’s dual-identity if THOR will just take him to Asgard. Meanwhile, in Asgard, CREEL confronts ODIN who blasts him with cosmic energy, which he absorbs!

KIRBY also illustrates the TALES OF ASGARD back-up feature, "The Grim Specter Of Mutiny!", in which the Asgardian sailors, fearful of their impending doom and spurred on by LOKI, turn on each other. With nobody manning the oars, their ship is drawn towards the deadly Pillars of Utgard. They hear a deafening sound and looking up, they see BALDER lashed to the ship’s figurehead and blowing a mighty horn.

This nearly 60-year old copy of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #122 is in pretty good condition - no tears, bent corners, or excessive toning -- but there is a tiny piece out of the front cover at the top edge, and some unobtrusive handwriting on the splash page. 

We'll call this a 4.0 VG which The Overstreet Price Guide values at $32 -- we, however, are going to make this issue a bargain for THORists at just $20 - the best value for this issue you'll find on HipComic!
