Here's a JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY from not too long before the title changed to 'THE MIGHTY THOR'!   In the 16-page lead story, "The Trial of the Gods!", picking up right where issue #115 left off, THOR and LOKI are sent to Skornheim by ODIN to endure the TRIAL OF THE GODS, which will show which one of his sons is lying to him.

Against ODIN's decree, LOKI uses magic to escape the traps of the enchanted land while THOR has to rely on brawn and sheer will. Meanwhile, the Enchantress and the Executioner set about tormenting Jane Foster in a bid to influence the outcome of the trial. ODIN sends BALDER to deal with them . . and IRON MAN, DAREDEVIL and several AVENGERS make cameo appearances!

Stan Lee scripts . . Jack Kirby brings it to life!

Kirby also illustrates another TALES OF ASGARD installment, "The Challenge!", in which LOKI, on a diplomatic mission, convinces King Hymir to put THOR to a deadly test where failure means slavery to the evil king. THOR, of course, passes the test, much to the annoyance of Hymir, who strikes LOKI and accuses him of betrayal!

This is a well-preserved and solid copy of this 61 year old issue!  The binding is strong, the pages are supple with bright color, there is still a bit of gloss to the cover, and there are no tears, creases, pieces missing, or rough page edges.  There is, however, a bit of roughness at the tops of both front and back covers.

It all adds up to a conservative grade of 5.5 FN-, for which the Overstreet Price Guide suggests a price of $44.00.  But we're going to make this early THOR issue a bit more affordable at $32 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping of just $2!
