Color guides are a comic book page size photocopy of the original black and white art. The colorist then adds the colors to the panels and indicates various shading codes so the printer will know exactly how to apply the colors. Each page is an original, one of a kind, piece of hand done art. For decades the publishers and printers would throw any production art in the trash can after it had served its purpose.
