The 8 issues of DC's 1999 Annuals starring members of the Justice League, were all part of a giant crossover event, in which the gorillas of GORILLA CITY declare war on all humans, and use an advanced device in space to transform all humans into gorillas!!

The 7th issue in the overall gorilla story arc is here in GREEN LANTERN ANNUAL #8, cleverly written by Keith Giffen, and illustrated  byOctavio Cariello and John Nadeau.  The detailed cover artwork, showing 'Apes in Space' is by well-known gorilla artist ('Monkeyman and O'Brien') Art Adams!

Here, in Part 7 of 'JLAPE: GORILLA WARFARE', entitled "Grunts", Green Lantern Kyle Rayner is turned into an ape and helps the gorilla hordes protect their satellite in space that will transform Earth's humans into gorillas!  But he is jolted back into humanity by J'ONN J'ONZZ with a bit of help from Green Lanterns SENTINEL and WARRIOR.
