Just 7 issues since the groundbreaking GREEN LANTERN #76 opened comic book readers eyes to the huge gray area in real life that had nearly always been previously portrayed as simply black and white or good vs. evil conflicts, writer Denny O'Neil turns his focus here away from societal ills to craft a more customary good 'ol monster/terror/nightmare yarn!.  

In GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW #83, with illustrations by the incomparable Neal Adams, and inked by Dick Giordano, you get ". . . and a Child Shall Destroy Them!", a creepy tale of a young girl in possession of psychic powers.

GREEN LANTERN and GREEN ARROW accompany DINAH LANCE (BLACK CANARY) as she begins a job at a private school. There they are greeted by the owner, Jason Billmore, the cook, Grandy (who is caricatured throughout by Neal Adams as SPIRO AGNEW, the disgraced vice-president of the U.S. at the time!) (that's him on the cover!) and a little girl named Sybil (who is also slyly caricatured, as RICHARD NIXON!!).

After the costumed heroes are asked to leave, DINAH learns that in Sybil, Grandy (the true villain of the story) has finally found a way to keep the children of the school in order. GREEN LANTERN and GREEN ARROW return to the school just in time to save DINAH, and when Grandy orders Sybil to attack GL, she refuses and brings down the roof on herself and Grandy!

This 55-year-old copy of GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW #83 is in top-notch condition, with a strong binding and no splits, tears, stress lines or any other fault we can see.  We conservatively grade this an 8.0 VF - you may pronounce it something even higher when you get it in your hands!.  

The Overstreet Price Guide quotes a price of $59 for this issue in this condition . . but we think you'll be happy with our price of $34 . . . and our L•O•W shipping cost!
