Item Description
Issue #79 of GREEN LANTERN, just 4 issues past the milestone issue #75 that brought social realism to the DC Universe, Denny O'Neill and Neal Adams once again deliver a story that resonates with the times, dealing with injustices and inequalities in American society that may have been previously beneath the notice of a galaxy-spanning hero like GREEN LANTERN, but are important and enraging to the more grounded GREEN ARROW. They make a perfect team!In "Ulysses Star Is Still Alive!", HAL JORDAN and OLIVER QUEEN, along with their traveling companion, "The Old Timer" Guardian from OA, find themselves in Washington State as they traverse the U.S., seeking to learn about Society's ills and how they might right them. There, they get involved in a dispute over logging rights on Native American land.
While GREEN LANTERN searches for documentation to support the tribe's claim, GREEN ARROW tries to inspire them with the ghost of their ancestor, joined by the BLACK CANARY, who was not far off, and they make a stand in support of the tribe and against the loggers.
GREEN LANTERN arrives with help from Washington DC, and though the heroes are able to prevent all-out conflict between the loggers and the Native Americans, and the leaders of the loggers are arrested, only time will tell if the Native Americans' claim will hold up in a court of law.
The unparalleled Neal Adams provides the perfect illustrations for everyone's frustrations with society's ills.
This is a great-looking 54-year old GREEN LANTERN -- no creases, tears, pieces missing, or abnormal toning. The binding is strong, and the colors are bright! Only a bit of minor wear and roughness to the page and cover prevents this copy from grading higher. We conservatively give this a 7.0 FN/VF. . . which Overstreet values at $49 . . . but we're pricing it at just $34 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping!
In Brightest Day . . get the best of O'Neill and Adams in one terrific bargain, or you'll find yourself . . In Blackest Night!
