FAFHRD AND THE GRAY MOUSER are two sword-and-sorcery heroes appearing in stories written by Fritz Leiber. One of his motives in writing about them was to have a couple of fantasy heroes closer to true human nature than the likes of Howard's Conan the Barbarian or Burroughs's Tarzan.

FAFHRD is a very tall (nearly seven feet) and strong northern barbarian, skilled at both swordsmanship and singing. THE MOUSER is a small (not much more than five feet) mercurial thief, gifted and deadly at swordsmanship, as well as a former wizard's apprentice who retains some skill at magic. Their story first saw print in 1939, and carried across three dozen paperback novels into the 1960s.

They first appeared in comic book form in DC's SWORD OF SORCERY series in 1973 . . but that only lasted 5 issues.  Then in 1990, EPIC COMICS put together this classy 4-issue run, with new adaptations of 7 of the most popular FAFHRD AND THE GRAY MOUSER stories -- illustrated by none other than Mike Mignola!

Appearing in the 4 issue collection are the stories "Ill Met in Lankhmar" (issue 1), "The Circle Curse" and "The Howling Tower" (issue 2), "The Price of Pain Ease" and "Bazaar of the Bizarre" (issue 3), and "Lean Times in Lankhmar" and "When the Sea King's Away" (issue 4). The comics were scripted by Howard Chaykin, who had drawn several issues of the earlier DC title, and pencilled by Mike Mignola of HELLBOY fame.

These four squarebound graphic novels are near-pristine in condition - read just once and carefully stored.
