DELL Comics was already a powerhouse in the comics industry when, in 1949, they began to publish GIANT comics with 100 pages of story, and cardstock covers with a square binding. Even at the increased cover price of 25¢ they were very profitable, and continued (with a gradually diminishing page count) until Fall of 1961, ending with Dell Giant #55.

Here is issue #24 from the end of the 1950s, with popular licensed characters from Walter Lantz Studios appearing in WOODY WOODPECKER'S FAMILY FUN.  The entire well-known gang is here - Woody, his niece and nephew Splinter and Knothead, Chilly Willy, Andy Panda & Charlie Chicken, Buzz Buzzard & Wally Walrus, Windy and Breezy, Homer Pigeon, Carrie and Red Cardinal -  great characters that kept us entertained every Saturday morning!
  

You get 6 fun stories, of varying lengths of 8 to 18 pages, built around the premise of a big picnic outing . . and there are 2 activity pages for kids ( which have been neatly and lightly worked on with a pencil).

This is the variety with artwork on the back cover rather than an ad!

This is a very nice copy of DELL GIANT #24 with a strong binding, glossy covers and supple pages. It has bright colors and no foxing! There are a few minor and light stain marks on the cover, and a very slight spine roll.  Overstreet values this issue, in this grade of 6.0 FN, at $24. We're offering it for a mere $12.
