DC SPECIAL SERIES was a catch-all series primarily for one-shots in different size formats, such as "Dollar Comics," giant-size "Spectaculars," digests, and tabloid "Treasury Editions." It was published on an irregular schedule from 1977 to 1981. Most issues featured new material, except for THE ORIGINAL SWAMP THING SAGA reprint run, and a few others.

Here in issue #20, you get three terrific reprints of SWAMP THING #8, 9 & 10 with some of Bernie Wrightson's most detailed and amazing art! First comes "The Lurker in Tunnel 13!", in which SWAMP THING is warned by a dying old man not to go near the town of Perdition, whose played-out mines were restored by sorcery, but from which people have been disappearing without a trace.

Next up is another Wein/Wrightson gem, issue #9's 'The Stalker from Beyond', in which SWAMP THING returns to the swamp only to find that an alien ship has crashed there and it's occupant is attempting to repair his ship.

And the capper is the incredible 'The Man Who Would Not Die!' from issue #10, with some of Wrightson's most elaborate and inventive character designs! Anton Arcane and his Un-Men attack the SWAMP THING, but he is saved by the resurrected corpse of Black Jubal.

This is a lovely copy of this $1.00, 68-page comic, with a strong binding, supple pages, glossy covers, minimal toning, and no tears. We conservatively grade this a 8.0 VF .  For this grade of this issue, the Overstreet Price Guide offers a value of $10, giving you the chance to enjoy these great stories far more affordably than reading them in the original issues!
