Item Description
. The son of boxer 'Battlin' Jack' Murdock, Matt Murdock grew up in the relative poverty of Hell's Kitchen with much reverence for his father, who constantly pressed him to study instead of playing with his friends. In turn, they taunted him with the facetious nickname DAREDEVIL since he always went back to studying instead of doing things with them.Matt was blinded by toxic chemicals, but learned to hone his physical skills and other senses to the point where he was a fearsome force for good in his neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, even after opening a law firm there.
In "Last Hand", a special 52 page issue, scripted and pencilled by Frank Miller (aided by inker Klaus Janson), BULLSEYE, the mysterious mercenary, escapes from prison plotting revenge against DAREDEVIL. Smart fella that he is, he discovers DAREDEVIL's civilian identity and the one way to hurt DD worse than killing him: go after ELEKTRA!
BULLSEYE fights ELEKTRA and 'kills' her with her own sai. DAREDEVIL then goes after BULLSEYE and ends up dropping him from a great height, breaking every bone in his body!
This 'Special Double Size' issue is dedicated to WALLY WOOD - the acclaimed illustrator of DAREDEVIL's adventures for Marvel starting with issue #5.
Frank Miller's artwork is stylish and evocative. and easily indicative of why he became the most popular DAREDEVIL artist of this era!
This is a great copy of the early 1980s DAREDEVIL, with a strong binding, supple pages and good color on its 44-year old pages! There are no tears, creases or pieces missing . . and that leads us to grading this an 8.0 VF.
The Overstreet Price Guide feels $28 is appropriate for this issue at this grade -- but we feel $19 plus our L•O•W shipping is even MORE appropriate!
