Contains Issue #'s 1-4 ***Complete 4-Issue Mini-Series! 'Dan Dare’s first comic appearance was as the star attraction of the first issue of the renowned British weekly Eagle in 1950. Col. Dare was the epitome of the stiff upper lipped English adventurer; member of the Interplanet Space Fleet, explorer of Venus, lover of fencing, riding and cricket. Dare updates the character for the 1980s.In this mini-series, controversial British writer Grant Morrison imagines a retired Dan Dare, recently injured in a space battle and attempting to write his memoirs. Meeting him at a funeral, Prime Minister Gloria Munday (a thinly disguised Margaret Thatcher) offers Dan the job as a figurehead to assist her in winning the next election. Needing money and being a good party man, Dare accepts. He enjoys his new purpose in life until he realizes the party is corrupt and the leaders he is supporting are morally bankrupt.
