THE OZ-WONDERLAND WAR is a three-issue 106-page special edition comic book, published by DC Comics with cover dates January through March 1986 . The trilogy features CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS AMAZING ZOO CREW, a cast of funny-animal superhero characters from the mind and pencil of SCOTT SHAW!, and was written by Joey Cavalieri and E. Nelson Bridwell, with great art by Carol Lay.

The title is a bit misleading: L. Frank Baum's OZ and Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND are not at war with each other in the comic's plot. Rather, characters from both WONDERLAND and OZ unite against ROQUAT the NOME KING who has gained control over the Winged Monkeys and used them to conquer OZ and imprison Princess Ozma, Glinda, the Tin Woodman and others. The ZOO CREW joins with Dorothy Gale, Tik-Tok, the Cheshire Cat, the White Knight, the Mock-Turtle, and others from both the classic books, to oust ROQUAT from his conquest.

Each of the three issues contains 2 chapters, with pun-filled names: 'Gillikin's Highland!','Slay It With Flowers!', 'Deliver Oz From Evil!', 'Roquat's Dread Glare!', 'Jabber-Wacky!', and 'Oz Well That Ends Well!'

Artist CAROL LAY did an amazing job of imitating the styles of the the original artists involved — Wonderland's JOHN TENNIEL, Oz's JOHN R. NEILL — and blending them with SCOTT SHAW!'S ZOO CREW model sheets.

In addition to the grand epic story, you get an informative foreword on the story's genesis from Editor ROY THOMAS, an essay on artist CAROL LAY, and sprinkled throughout : lots of illustrations by the original illustrators of the two classic works - John R. Neill, W.W. Denslow and Sir John Tenniel!

These three copies are in perfect condition for their nearly 40 year age, with strong bindings, glossy covers and no chips, tears, creases or pieces missing! We're grading them an aggregate 8.0 VF, for which the Overstreet Price Guide lists a price of $18 for the set.
