THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD began publication in August-September of 1955. Originally an adventure series featuring several non-related vignettes per issue, the title eventually evolved into a team-up book, with BATMAN sharing the spotlight feature throughout most of its run.

Here in issue #85 from August/September of 1969, inside the cover by Neal Adams, is the story "The Senator's Been Shotl!" written by Bob Haney and illustrated (both pencils and inks!)by the great Neal Adams. It features GREEN ARROW in his first appearance in the new costume and stylish goatee designed by Adams!

When the newly voted senator for Gotham City is shot before he can vote on a important anti-crime bill, Bruce Wayne is selected to finish the rest of the Senator's term during his recovery so that the crucial deciding vote for an important anti-crime bill can be cast. Meanwhile, as BATMAN, Bruce attempts to find out who was responsible for having the senator shot and along the way teams up with GREEN ARROW to bring the shooter to justice, just in time for Bruce to vote in favor of the crime bill.

This 55-year-old copy of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #85 (the title's first with a price-jump to 15¢!) is in 6.0 FN condition - there is a bit of scuffing on the front cover near the spine, and tiny dings at the edge, but the binding is strong, and there are no tears, creases, pieces missing, or rough edges. Nothing detracts from the great Neal Adams interior art!
