By 1983, BATMAN's dealings with the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA had become increasingly strained.  When his employee Lucius Fox was detained in the country of MARKOVIA, BATMAN urged the JLA to enter the conflict and restore peace, When they refused to help him, he QUIT the JLA, and flew to MARKOVIA with BLACK LIGHTNING.

It was there that he formed the team of super-powered young people that became known as THE OUTSIDERS.  Soon GEO-FORCE, HALO, METAMORPHO, and KATANA were fighting alongside BATMAN and BLACK LIGHTNING and forming a force to be reckoned with!

Here are two early issues of MIKE W. BARR and JIM APARO's terrific work on the first volume of BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS from 1983, with both copies in tip-top condition!

In #4's "One-Man Meltdown" , HALO and KATANA bury their distrust of each other to help BATMAN and the other OUTSIDERS go after a prison escapee who breaks into STARR labs. They later discover he is stealing radioactive materials to keep himself alive, after being experimented on by an unscrupulous prison warden!

And in "Psimon Says . . ." in #5, the OUTSIDERS team up with the NEW TEEN TITANS to battle the FEARSOME FIVE as they attempt to enslave and dominate all the citizens of Gotham City! The two teams, led in this situation by GEO-FORCE and his half-sister TERRA, manage to stop the takeover, ably assisted by HALO's ability to block and repel PSIMON's brainwaves and defeat him!

MIKE W. BARR tells two great stories and JIM APARO's appealing art has never looked better! ••• NEW TEEN TITANS artist GEORGE PÉREZ pencilled #5's cover and APARO inked it!

This is a terrific-looking pair of 42-year old comics - the bindings are strong, the colors are bright, the covers still have their gloss . . just in top-notch condition - no stress lines, dings, tears, creases or pieces missing!.
