The third volume of The Avengers (“Heroes Return”) puts back in place what was torn apart to form Avengers (Vol. 2) (“Heroes Reborn”) which was an alternate reality filled with versions of the Avenger characters which were similar—but not the same—as the ones comic readers had followed for decades.Now, with volume three, the “real” Avengers are returning to the mainstream Marvel Universe. Curiously enough, the return takes them through yet another alternate universe, this one created by sorceress Morgan LeFay. LeFay use the reality-warping Twilight Sword to create a medieval world where the Avengers have alternate identities and all serve her. But even the most powerful spell can not hope to control the minds of the World’s Mightiest Mortals.
