AMBUSH BUG is a sometimes-superhero who has hung around the edges of DC Comics since his creation as a seriously silly, joyfully goofy wacko, by Artist Keith Giffen in1985.  His real name is supposedly Irwin Schwab, but he has mental problems that prevent him from truly understanding reality around him, so even his true identity might be no more than a delusion on his part. His origin is disputed, although the most commonly accepted origin is that Brum-El of the planet Schwab sent his clothes from his supposedly doomed planet, hoping that his wardrobe would survive, only to have it intercepted by a giant radioactive space spider. In the resulting crash, only two articles of clothing survived: the AMBUSH BUG suit, which was subsequently found by Irwin Schwab; and "Argh!Yle!", an argyle sock with a DOCTOR DOOM-like complex, complete with metal mask.

Weird - right?

But that off-the-wall silliness persists in this 52-page non-stop wackiness that tries to stay focussed on a story, but wanders off into many crazy side trips!AMBUSH BUG STOCKING STUFFER has minimal ties to Christmas - but it's a big present for humor-lovers!

Keith Giffen plots the 4th-wall-breaking antics of AMBUSH BUG, and Robert Loren Fleming scripts his antics, as the jolly green one dashes wildly in and out of meta situations as he tries to focus on capturing a crazed cannibal who has been breaking into toy stores and devouring the stuffed animals!

That's supposedly the main plot . . but it's more fun to just go along for the crazy ride as AMBUSH BUG encounters scores of characters in cameo apprearances, leaving them all scratching their heads!

This is a great-looking copy from 38 years ago - there are no creases, tears, pieces missing, or abnormal toning. The binding is strong, the colors are bright . . it's amazingly tight and sturdy, with good cover gloss! We grade this an 8.0 VF . . . which The Overstreet Price Guide values at $5.00 . . . but we're just going to laugh our way to the bank with a $3 price tag . . and with our always-L•O•W shipping, it's the most affordable AMBUSH BUG STOCKING STUFFER here on HipComic!
