Issue Description
During time spent in Hong Kong ten years earlier, Logan had befriended a contract killer named McLeish, who was referred to by the locals as "White Ghost". One conversation between the two revolved around McLeish's lament about aging and losing his status as "the best killer in the world", as well as his musings how one might go about killing a man with a mutant healing ability and an adamantium skeleton..
At the time, Logan was seeing a young woman named Ai-Chia Wong, daughter of a local filmmaker who had long avoided dealings with the criminal triads. After a movie date, Logan escorted Ai-Chia to her home where they discovered her father had just been brutally murdered. Logan leapt onto his motorcycle and followed the fresh trail to a speeding Cadillac in which McLeish rode. The killer forced Logan to crash and made his getaway to meet his triad contact at a pier for the pay-off.
Logan tracked him there and launched his bike onto McLeish, breaking his back. The triad bagman then fired at Logan, but sparks from his gun set off the bike's leaking gasoline, causing the speedboat upon which the two criminals had stood to explode, apparently killing the pair.
In the present, Logan returns to his East Village apartment to find the bloodied body of a murdered acquaintance lying on his bed. He sees McLeish's distinctive dagger embedded in the top of his nightstand. He removes it, unwittingly releasing the trigger on a bomb hidden within the top drawer. Hearing the click, Logan leaps out his window to the street below. He realizes McLeish is alive and gunning for him.
