Issue Description
The Misfits are five British Infantrymen who are the "shame of their regiment." During an attack on a German position near Caen, Normandy in 1944, they cause their battalion to retreat in disorder. The battalion C.O. decides to hand them over to "the toughest, roughest NCO" in the battalion, Corporal Lister, in the hope that Lister will make soldiers of them. This Lister does by drubbing each one with his fists.
During a second assault on the German position all six men are captured. The British attack is beaten off by the arrival of enemy Tiger tanks. However, the prisoners escape during an air raid. They decide to destroy the Tiger tanks by lobbing German stick grenades into the turrets. In the fighting that takes place all five Misfits are killed, and Lister is severely wounded. As he is being carried away on a stretcher, he vows that the Misfits were the bravest men he has ever met. So the bad guys redeem themselves, and thanks to the enemy armor being immobilized, the next British attack succeeds.
