Overview

In her efforts to apprehend Spider-Man, Silver Sable inadvertently convinces authorities-and the media-that Spidey does indeed go to Midtown High School. And the first backpack they're going to check belongs to none other than-Peter Parker! Thanks to another student trying to play a practical joke with his own Spiderman suit Peter is able to make his escape, and decides to tell his Aunt May that he in fact is Spiderman. Unfortunately he chickens out after May goes off on a rant about Spiderman being a coward and hiding his face with a mask. Peter takes the advice of his new girlfriend-Ultimate X-Men's Kitty Pryde-and seeks out Sable and her Wildpack for a showdown. Things do not go as planned for the web-spinner. Not at all. The all-star team of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley brought a new beginning for Spider-Man that started in this popular Ultimate comic-series. Spider-Man re-imagined for the 21st century! The series ended with issue 133 after the events of Ultimatum and was continued in the two-issue mini-series Ultimatum: Spider-Man - Requiem until it was revamped as Ultimate Comics Spider-Man with a new number 1.

The series also had an Ultimate Spider-Man Annual series which had vital links to the main series.
