Issue Description
Black Tom Cassidy requests the help of Storm and Kitty to retrieve the Cytorrak Gem for a now depowered Juggernaut. Things get interesting when Gambit comes out of the woodwork to steal the gem for his own personal gain.
Storm and Shadowcat are in Seoul, South Korea, where Black Tom Cassidy has called up on them to come. Black Tom requires the help of Storm in return of a favor for her.
Juggernaut had found out that there is a second gem in South Korea and was intrigued by the thought of doubling his powers. The gem, however, had no powers, and in the presence of Juggernaut, had sucked out all of Juggernaut's power into itself.
When Black tom brings Storm and Shadowcat to see the ailing Juggernaut, he had disappeared. Storm and Shadowcat leave to trace his footsteps, while Gambit, clandestinely lurks in the shadows watching them.
Storm and Shadowcat find Juggernaut in the streets of downtown Seoul and try to stop him, but it is Gambit that ultimately succeeds as he is reunited with his former teammates. Gambit reveals that he was out to steal the gem. Gambit and Storm call a truce, but agree that whoever finds the gem first, keeps it. They pull a map from Juggernaut's pants and see a X on the island of Cheju-Do.
The three X-Men arrive to a temple where they are then confronted by secret warriors sworn to defend the temple. As the three fight, eventually, it is Gambit who finds the gem, leaving Storm disappointed that Gambit would trick her. As they return to Black Tom, Gambit is already there, and gave the gem to him. Storm and Shadowcat try to convince him to rejoin the X-Men, and also question him about how he survived Antarctica, but Gambit remains secretive.
Rogue is upset. Wolverine comes to talk to her and finds out she has been to Antarctica again to see if she can locate Gambit. They are interrupted by ruckus happening in the Xavier Institute. Marrow, Colossus and Nightcrawler are fighting, and Wolverine and Rogue come to stop it. Meanwhile, Wolverine reveals that Colossus can have his room back because he intends to move back outdoors.
Later, Colossus enters Marrow's room, surprising her, and sees pictures and postures pinned on her wall. Marrow gets infuriated that he invaded her privacy and kicks him out. He tells her, he just came to apologize about earlier, and slips a drawing he made of her under her door.

Volume Description
This is a continuation of Stan Lee's and Jack Kirby's original The X-Men (Vol. 1). Beginning with issue #114 the descriptive "Uncanny" was added to the cover treatment but it wasn't until issue #142 that the volume's official name was permanently changed to Uncanny X-Men.
The title has had many creative influences over the years but Chris Claremont was probably the force that drove the title through many it its historic changes, truly bringing it from "the world strangest teens" into their new status a team of mutants fight in a "world that fears and hates them". During his legendary 15 year run he gave us character and stories such as Phoenix/Dark Phoenix, the Hellfire Club, the New Mutants, X-Factor, the Mutant Massacre, Inferno and Jubilee and numerous other historic heroes and events. This epic run ended after editorial disputes in 1991.
For the Uncanny X-Men Post-Schism, see Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2).
