Issue Description

Frank Castle is working withing a religious cult trusting to take them down. The Punisher is very curious about the Rev because he was able to heal him after he was shot. The Rev asks him to train their men how to use armed weapons. Later Castle meets the Rev at his house in the suburbs and is asked to kill a Congressman. The Rev claimed he was a secret spy who was out to get him and needed to be eliminated. Castle is then escorted to his room by sister Vicki and they have sex, which Frank feels conflicted about since her husband asked him to save her.

The next morning Castleis awakened by a member named Ray White. Frank continues teaching him how to use fire arms and they have a chat about how White joined the Rev. They then hear that the Rev's sister Sadie will be arriving. Shortly after meeting her, she tries to seduce Frank as well, but he resists. They then meet with the Rev where she reveals that the Congressman that the Rev wants dead will be arriving within twenty-four hours.

The Rev then calls a meeting where one of the cult members tries to attack him, but Castle takes him down. He then takes him to the woods and let's him run for it. Later the Punisher learns that the Rev is planning a ritualistic suicide. After another night with Vicki, Frank cleans his gun and puts on his cavilar and goes after the Rev. Frank only shoots him and does not kill him. Sadie escapes and the cult scatters. Frank then returns Vicki and her child to her husband.

This is the first ongoing comic book series starring the fictional Marvel Comics vigilante The Punisher, following a limited series published the previous year. It lasted for 104 issues after witch this title, as well as Punisher's other two comics Punisher: War Journal and Punisher: War Zone, where cancelled and merged into Punisher Volume 3.

This series also spawned seven annuals, as well as the annuals The Punisher Summer Special #1-4 , The Punisher: Back to School Special #1-3 and The Punisher Holiday Special #1-3.
