Volume Description
As the only remaining boy in the world, Erik Farrell has to piece his memories together, while trying to forge a new life for himself in a patchwork world.
Created by writer David Gallaher and artist Steve Ellis (collaborators since 2007), The Only Living Boy debuted at San Diego Comic Con 2012. The first issue was successfully funded by a Kickstarter campaign in March 2012. Half of the goal total was raised in the first eight days of the campaign, which ran for one month and ended at $4,500 over the target $11,000.
The creators cite Flash Gordon, John Carter, The Jungle Book, and Planet Of The Apes as sources of inspiration.
The digital edition of Issue #1 was available free of charge on Free Comic Book Day 2013. The series was nominated for two 2013 Harvey Awards for Best Inking and Best Cover. In 2014, the series was nominated again for a Harvey Award, this time for Best Graphic Publication for Younger Readers.
On March 26th 2014, the series was released as a free webcomic at: the-only-living-boy.com
