Tensions rise as the uneasy allies hurtle through outer space toward their destination. Nova, Powerhouse, Crime-Buster, Comet, Diamondhead, and the powerful Sphinx are attacked by an armada of Skrull warships. But these champions will not be denied. Though this is the final issue in Nova's own series his story is not done yet. Nova's epic saga continues in Fantastic Four (1st Series) ##206-209 and concludes in Rom (1979) #24.

This series continued its numbering from Nova Vol.1 after issue 21. While the cover was always titled The Man Called Nova, it wasn't until issue 22 that the name on the cover was also used in the indica.
