The Ghostwalk reaches its dynamic conclusion! The Phantom finally discovers that the person behind all this is Quisling and his intentions. He traces back the villain right to the Walkabout tower, a part of which is the breeding place for Krieghund. This terror organization is led by Kit's former right hand man in Walkabout Foundation, Peter Quisling. With the area heavily guarded by Quisling's men, it is difficult for Kit to reach the boss that easy. The villain is finally taken down but there is destruction. The destruction of the entire Walkabout Foundation, which was, as Kit realizes, in the way to take up the self-appointed masked crime fighter's role. With the philanthropic foundation gone and his wife and son killed, he is now in a true sense, just a Ghost Who Walks and the Last Phantom!

Dynamite entertainment, under the license of King Features Syndicate, started this new series of the Last Phantom that spins around a completely different story compared to the conventional Phantom stories. Alex Ross and Blackest Night artists Joe Prado and Fabiano Neves have presented new the Ghost who walks in a whole new way, while Scott Beatty has scripted it.

The story first begins with no Phantom. The 21st Phantom was the last of the series. Kit Walker Jr. refused to take up the mantle as the masked crime fighter and is on a comfortable ride of life and family, while handling the day-to-day affairs of the Walkabout Foundation, an organization created by one of the previous Walkers to help support charities in Bengala, and the surrounding nations of Africa. This volume of comic books describes the Kit Walker Jr.'s course and whether he will continue to lead that comfortable life or does the destiny bring him back to be the Guardian of the Eastern Dark.
