Issue Description
With only four full-time members, the Avengers must fill up their team roster! Will Spider-Man finally accept his bid as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Will Hawkeye be able to bury past grudges and rejoin the ranks? A new team of Avengers will be formed by the end of this issue!
...New Blood! The team decides it needs a couple of new members to meet a goal of six active Avengers. Wasp and Thor question whether Moondragon telepathically influenced the decisions of some Avengers to resign at their last membership drive. Captain America proposes they evaluate all proposed members on current qualifications. Wasp proposes that each Avenger consider potential members, and ends the meeting.
Captain America suggests to Iron Man that they ask Hawkeye to return. The two set plans to meet with the Avenging Archer. Thor asks Jarvis his opinion, and is advised to consider unlikely candidates. Wasp drafts a list of female recruits, including Black Widow, the Invisible Woman, Dazzler, Spider-Woman, and She-Hulk.
Thor seeks out Spider-Man; finding him stopping muggers in Central Park. Thor offers Spider-Man membership, but the wall-crawler is uncertain about working with a team.
Cap and Iron Man meet with Hawkeye in his office at Cross Tech Enterprises. Hawkeye protests that he has an important, well-paying job. But he cannot resist, and accepts before they reach the door.
Wasp hosts a get-together for her recruits at her Cresskill home. The Mechano-Marauder, Fabian Stankowitz, attacks the party. Wasp and her guests easily defeat Fabian, without interrupting their conversation. Dazzler, Invisible Woman, Spider-Woman, and Black Widow all turn down Avenger's membership.
The issue ends as Peter Henry Gyrich processes security clearance for two new Avengers: Hawkeye and She-Hulk.
