Issue Description
An adventure from Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four's past is about to have a profound effect on their future...Thats if Spidey and the Torch can stop fighting long enough to notice! What's the cosmic rift that's separating two of Marvel U.'s best friends? Plus a dark turn for Harry Osborn. A new role for Mr. Negative. And the start of a story that will effect almost every title at Marvel Comics! We kid you not.
Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four went to the Macroverse some time ago, but some time ago Peter wore no mask during the trip. The five of them saved a princess from some kind of ambush making them heroes.
Then One More Day happened
Now Osborn is leader and the new Nick Fury which makes it hard foe Spidey to keep his superhero license since catching bad guys isn't good anymore, Looter being the one who made him aware of that. So Spidey does the only thing he can do... give him a wedgie.
The FF went after Spider-Man and asked him to accompany them again to the Macroverse because the people from the Marcoverse had contacted Reed in a cry for help. Peter refused the offer until Reed put money in it so he would not have overdue bills when he came back.
Over at F.E.A.S.T. Aunt May was very busy even with the help of Mr. Li, AKA: Mr. Negative and also the might-be future Mayor.
Harry now is in need of of help and Peter has left. Harry only leaves a drunken message saying he has done something stupid. The he tries to get the help of Carlie.
The Fantastic Family gets ready to leave and Reed is ready to take the newest Fantasti-car he has made. Sue says her goodbyes to Valeria and Franklin leaving them in the care of " Aunt Alicia and Uncle Arlo".
Using Pym particles they are of into the dimension under their own. They arrive into a not-so-prehistoric place where they encounter statues of themselves. Torch realizes something odd; Spider-Man's statue is without a mask. The people from the Macroverse then go up to who they think is their gods. Reed sees how old the statutes are making an interesting point in how time passes there.
The people from the Macroverse are then attacked by similar people they fought last time only this time they had cannons. Under the protection of Sue Richard's force field Reed tries to explain his most recent discovery. Torch and Spidey then go at it breaking their friendship over how Johnny doesn't remember who is it who is under the mask. Spider-Man says then that he's not supposed to know, that he will "not go down that road again. No one knows! That-- that's how it has be! No exceptions!" He then sacrifices his friendship over it. Johnny mad at this then burns Spider-Man's mask off.

Volume Description
After the success of Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962) a few months later the same creative team came back to start an ongoing series focusing on the character the two of them created.
The book's run continued until issue number 441 (Nov. 1998) when Marvel relaunched the title as Amazing Spider-Man Volume 2 with a new number 1 in January 1999. After issue #30 (#471) Marvel used a dual numbering system, yet the indicia still stated The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2. On the title's 40th anniversary the numbering was reverted to go from issue 58 to issue 500 (Dec. 2003) as The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1.
This volume ends with #700 and is picked up by the Marvel Now! revolution volume Superior Spider-Man.
