Accoding to the tradition of the Pennsylvanian Amish, the youngsters, after their coming of age, go out of their community, travelling to see the outside world. Only then they can choose if they want back in the realm of their religion, with its strict rules, or if they will become non-believers. It's a time called “Rumspringa”, that the young Amish boys and girls can use to experiment with the freedom to drink, smoke and do the usual things of the kids their age. When, in Philadelphia, during their “Rumspringa”, some young Amish go so far as to kill other people, the Law springs to action — a young Amish "renegade" who's now working for the United States police. He will be joined by Harlan and Kurjak, because two of those killers have a peculiar feature: they're vampires! Their Master of the Night is waiting for them in a village suspended in the space-time, New Helder, where the community rules are very different from the usual... and far more creepy!
