"The Big Payback": Robotnik is upset by Sonic's victory over "Perfect Chaos" (as seen in the recent Sonic Adventure tie-in issues), so he sicks Silver Sonic II on the blue blur, right as the Freedom Fighters prepare to depart the Hidden City! Joining the battle, Sonic's friends find trying to beat Silver Sonic II in hand-to-hand combat is impossible, only Sonic can withstand Silver Sonic II's blows! The battle is furious, with repercussions sure to impact the future of the Freedom Fighters. What lies in store for the fearless heroes, and is there a way to defeat the juggernaut that is Silver Sonic II? As always, can Robotnik be far behind?

Originally starting out as a 4-issue tie-in with the original Sega Genesis game series, Sonic the Hedgehog eventually blossomed out into a continuation of the 1994 saturday morning cartoon series. Ben Hurst (a writer on the saturday morning cartoon) later on stated that he believed Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic as the true, canonical continuation of that show.

Sonic the Hedgehog follows the exploits of a group of rebel freedom fighters as they fight back against the dictatorship of Dr. Eggman. Dr. Eggman wants nothing less than total planetary domination, through a process known as "roboticization" - the act of turning a living creature in to a cold, robotic slave. At the center of this struggle are seven mysterious "Chaos Emeralds" that radiate a strange, otherworldly energy.

The series holds the Guinness Record for the longest comic book series based on a video-game.
