Issue Description
Still on the run from the law, Sonic the Hedgehog is unaware that Dr. Robotnik has orchestrated this entire sequence of events from the beginning. Robotnik reveals to the now-captured Knothole village that the King Acorn they've been trusting has been a robotic duplicate all along. In typical villainous fashion, Robotnik gloats over the helpless Knothole village, allowing them the pleasure of living long enough to be obliterated by his brand new super-weapon: The Ultimate Annihilator, a devastating satellite-mounted laser cannon that erases matter at an atomic level.
Back at Knothole, the true traitor is revealed: Drago, of the Wolf Pack. Drago tricked another freedom fighter named Hershey in to disguising herself as Sonic. Hershey thought she was killing Snively, Dr. Robotnik's right-hand man - but the mask she wore alters her vision so that everyone she sees at look like Snively, including Princess Sally.

Volume Description
Originally starting out as a 4-issue tie-in with the original Sega Genesis game series, Sonic the Hedgehog eventually blossomed out into a continuation of the 1994 saturday morning cartoon series. Ben Hurst (a writer on the saturday morning cartoon) later on stated that he believed Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic as the true, canonical continuation of that show.
Sonic the Hedgehog follows the exploits of a group of rebel freedom fighters as they fight back against the dictatorship of Dr. Eggman. Dr. Eggman wants nothing less than total planetary domination, through a process known as "roboticization" - the act of turning a living creature in to a cold, robotic slave. At the center of this struggle are seven mysterious "Chaos Emeralds" that radiate a strange, otherworldly energy.
The series holds the Guinness Record for the longest comic book series based on a video-game.
