Issue Description

In what was meant to be a routine mission, something goes terribly wrong and Princess Sally is critically wounded. All evidence pins Sally's would-be murderer as none other than Sonic the Hedgehog, whom arrives back at Knothole only to be arrested by the Royal Guard. Though everybody saw Sonic deliberately try and kill Princess Sally, Sonic maintains his innocence, but the evidence against him says otherwise.

Originally starting out as a 4-issue tie-in with the original Sega Genesis game series, Sonic the Hedgehog eventually blossomed out into a continuation of the 1994 saturday morning cartoon series. Ben Hurst (a writer on the saturday morning cartoon) later on stated that he believed Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic as the true, canonical continuation of that show.

Sonic the Hedgehog follows the exploits of a group of rebel freedom fighters as they fight back against the dictatorship of Dr. Eggman. Dr. Eggman wants nothing less than total planetary domination, through a process known as "roboticization" - the act of turning a living creature in to a cold, robotic slave. At the center of this struggle are seven mysterious "Chaos Emeralds" that radiate a strange, otherworldly energy.

The series holds the Guinness Record for the longest comic book series based on a video-game.
