Proper Japanese Title: 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン (Shin Seiki Evangerion)

A manga adaptation of GAINAX's Evangelion series, which started just prior to it's television run and is still ongoing as of 2011. For the most part it follows the plotline of the anime closely, however Sadamoto has adapted the plot where he sees fit to give this alternate retelling of the series its own feel. The main characters are Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Soryu who are pitted to do battle against Lovecraftian horrors known as the Angels.
