Issue Description
Naruto is a ninja-in-training with an incorrigible knack for mischief. His wild antics amuse his teammates, but Naruto is completely serious about one thing: becoming the world's greatest ninja!
Tired of menial tasks, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura ask for a tougher assignment. But you should always be careful what you wish for! Along with their sensei, Kakashi, the trio must guard a cranky old man from the Land of Waves. But Tazuna the bridge builder is in more danger than anyone could have imagined. And now the young ninja are too!
Kakashi gives them one final chance to past the test.He gives Sakura and Sasuke lunch but because Naruto tried to steal some earlier,Kakashi tells them not to give them any.He goes away and Sasuke says that Naruto will need his strength so they can work together.He gives himsome food and Kakashi appears,passing them for working as a team.
Later,the group (team 7) is assigned to protecting the bridge builder,Tazuna from bandits.Two mist ninja appear.They slash Kakashi into pieces then set their sights on Tazuna.The rest of the team is defeated and the two ninja are about to kill Tazuna when Kakashi reveals that the one they attacked was a fake.He incapacitates the two and questions Tazuna.Tazuna says the man named Gato monopolizedthe land of waves.He is building a bridge that will make Gato lose money so he sent ninjas after him.
Elsewhere,a ninja named zabuza discusses the failed assasination with his employer.
Zabuza attacks the team and Kakashi activates a move called Sharingan.The two fight and Kakshi gains the upper hand.Zabuza captures Kakshi in a water prison.Zabuza then has a flashback to his academy days in hidden mist village.In his village,to graduate you must kill in battle.He abused that rule and slaughtered a hundred children.Sasuke throws a shuriken behind zabuza which suddenly is revealed to be naruto.Naruto aims a kunai at his head.Naruto's distraction frees Kakashi who instantly resumes his battle with Zabuza.Kakashi uses his sharingan to "see the future" and copy Zabuza's moves.A hidden mist ninja in a mask (later revealed to be Haku) jumps out of a tree and throws needles into Zabuza's neck.The masked ninja says her job is to hunt down Zabuza.Naruto is angry at the ninja who takes Zabuza's body to get rid of it.It is revealed that she is an accomplice of Zabuza.And his death was a fake.Kakashi awakens and says that Zabuza's "death" seems strange to him.Kakashi realizes that zabuza's death was a fake.Naruto is introduced to Inari (Tazuna's grandson) who's bad attitude displeases him.Kakashi tells the team he is going to teach them chakra control to prepare them for battle.
