Issue Description
Kirby Hero, Kevin Matchstick, and Joe Phat have lunch and get to know each other better. Wally Ut shows up uninvited and continues to ramble on about being Kevin's second mage, and to offer unsolicited advice. While not altogether sane, he does seem to have at least some powers. However, the heroes continue to ignore him and once again drive off. They are trying to figure out what's going on. It used to be that they could find a "nasty" in every town or so, but now there are strange groupings. The nasties seem to be on the move, and they don't know why. They go to the house of Isis, a witch, to see if she can offer any advice. The Pale Incanter is seen building a huge golem. He seems to have some direct connection to Kevin's power, waking up whenever it is used.

Volume Description
The Hero Defined is the second series in the planned Mage trilogy. It comes after The Hero Discovered and before The Hero Denied. It was published many years after the first series. The third series has not yet been published, many years after the second series. The second series had more of a mixed critical reception than the first series, but still had an enthusiastic following. In it, Kevin Matchstick has become a more experienced and successful warrior, but to the detriment of his character. He must find his second mage in order to learn how to move on to a better path--although he doesn't see it like that.
