Opening with friendly banter between Tars Tarkas and Kantos Kan the story turns to a dialog between Tardos Mors and Tars Tarkas regarding the future of John Carter on Barsoom. Meanwhile Dejah Thoris is being groomed for a new mate and Tars Tarkas engages in a vicious battle with Barok Sol.

Volume Description
John Carter, Warlord of Mars was a 1977-1979 Marvel series loosely based upon the Barsoom series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This 28 issue series takes place during chapter 27 of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel A Princess of Mars. The series was well received and won the 1978 "Favourite New Title Eagle Award" (a British comics award based on the voting of fans).
The series also had an John Carter Warlord of Mars Annual series that accompanied the monthly series.
