Issue Description

Artifacts of unknown origin and power appear before Doctor Doom and Tony Stark at the same time. Doctor Doom is determined to possess both fabulous artifacts— even if it means tearing Stark International apart.

While wallowing in his discontent, the tyrant in exile Doctor Doom is confronted by a mysterious device of unknown origin that contains great power. Meanwhile Iron Man is making a public appearance on behalf of Stark Industries when a similar object presents itself. Eager to protect the crowd from this anomaly Iron Man quickly whisks it away for further analysis.

As the two men study these strange objects it soon becomes clear that there is more to them then meets the eye as Doom is willing to attack Stark Industries in order to acquire the other half and assemble them to unleash the power within..

Iron Man Volume 1

Iron Man Vol. 1 is Iron Man's first ongoing solo series. The series was launched following the success of the Iron Man stories in Tales of Suspense and continues from the one shot Iron Man and Sub-Mariner which picks up the story arc from Tales of Suspense #99. Many of the classic story lines and characters that are part of comic history today originate from this volume. The series started in 1968 and lasted all the way to 1996. Continues in Iron Man Vol.2.

Created by writers Stan Lee and Larry Lieber and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby, Iron Man's first appearance was in Tales of Suspense #39.
